Hello, My Name is Janice.  I have been with Community Living St. Catharines since 1988 in various capacities.

I was first hired as a Counselor in a relief position for Barnsdale Residence.  This position involved providing supports and services to children under the age of 18 who had an intellectual disability.  

I then transferred to a group home setting as a Support Coordinator II.  My responsibilities included providing support and personal care to adults who had an intellectual disability as well as physical and medical conditions.  In this position I also coordinated supports and case managed for individuals that resided at the residence.   

I was promoted to Supervisor within the Adult Supports Programs.  This involved supervising three group homes with a staff of approximately 15 – 20 employees per site, who provided support to 4 – 5 adults with intellectual disabilities.   

I have for the past 20 years been part of Community Living St. Catharines Home Share Program.  This program is equivalent to foster care for adults with an intellectual disability.  I presently support a lady who has shared my home for 17 years and a gentleman for 7 years. 

Previous to my work in Community Living, my degree in Early Childhood Education led me to work in the day care setting. I was hired as a Pre-school teacher which evolved into supervisory position.
